Bio

Aron is an award winning filmmaker, author and multidisciplinary artist descended from a long line of explorers, naturalists and storytellers. A journalist by training, for over twenty years his passion for documentary filmmaking and ethnology has led him across the globe to photograph cultural and human diversity. Aron’s body of work spans vanishing cultures, ancient traditions, contemporary culture, underrepresented communities from around the world, threatened wildlife, and delicate ecosystems on Earth alike. His Masters mentors were the Academy Award winner cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond, John Schwartzman and American photographer Steve McCurry. To this day, his filmography includes more than 200 titles shot in more than 50 countries on all 7 continents, including Antarctica. He worked as an Associate Professor at Faculty of Theatre and Film. He is a member of DAE Documentary Association of Europe, The International Documentary Association (IDA), of the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and of The Romanian Filmmakers Union. Aron founded the Xantus Foundation and the Museum of the Moving Image in 2022. He was awarded the the Diploma of Academic Merit of the Romanian Academy. Aron is a devoted animal and human rights activist.
